KANDU’s Novak Completes Weather Spotter Training

JANESVILLE, WI – Robert Novak III, IT Specialist for KANDU Industries, has completed severe weather spotter training by the National Weather Service.

Novak can now help track storms in the area and identify when the appropriate time is for KANDU clients and staff to take shelter in the event of severe weather. He will be following up with continued training with the Midwest Severe Storm Tracking and Response Center. Rusty Kapela, Warning Coordinator Meteorologist, teaches the classes that are held in Rock County during the months of March and April. Novak has been part of the staff at KANDU for four years, and has always had an interest in tracking storms.

KANDU’S CULTURAL CUISINE 2011 SERIES BEGINS: RUSSIA

JANESVILLE, WI – KANDU Industries, Inc. is hosting a Russian Cultural Cuisine Event on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 6 pm as part of the Cultural Cuisine Night series. Enjoy delicious food, fabulous décor, and wonderful entertainment. Tickets are $35 per person. Seating is by reservation only.

The dinner menu for the evening includes:

  • Venigret – beets, potatoes, onions, pickles, sour cabbage, carrots, and mixed greens with champagne vinaigrette
  • Diver scallops – potato encrusted scallops served over braised leeks, topped with smoked salmon
  • Blanched tomato stuffed with minced lamb served in tomato soup
  • Marinated rack of lamb, parsley root puree, and saffron risotto with blackberry reduction
  • Romanov dessert – a poached rhubarb torte topped with macerated raspberries

The entertainment for the evening will include a mix of art, music, and dancing, along with educational pieces on Russian traditions.

KANDU’s mission is to create experiences that offer persons with disabilities or disadvantages the opportunity to enjoy their rights, fulfill their responsibilities, and achieve greater independence. They provide meaningful opportunities to approximately 200 clients in a variety of areas.

KANDU Industries Arrow Park operation moving to Barberry Drive

KANDU Industries is moving only their Arrow Park operation (located on Parker Drive) to 1227 Barberry Drive throughout the weekend of December 3 - 5th, 2010.  Operations will be up and running on Monday, December 6th.  The Barberry property will increase KANDU’s ability to serve their production customers.  The new building offers a flexible open floor layout, high cube storage capacity, nine dock doors increasing semi-truck access and an outside storage building.

KANDU’s staff and clients are very excited about this move.  The new facility will provide a great work environment in a secured building.  The property on Barberry Drive is a Hendricks property in which they are remodeling specifically to meet KANDU’s needs.  Staff and clients will be able to enjoy a new break room and all new bathrooms.  The new property also provides ample parking, a more convenient drop-off/pick-up area with less traffic and lots of green space.
