Dragons on the Rock 2020

Early bird registration for the 2nd annual dragon boat race and community festival is now available through June 1st. Discounted boat team registration is $1,500 and includes an additional team practice (2 total), coached by professionals. Payment plans are available. After June 1st, team registration is $1,650 and includes only 1 practice. Registration for individuals without a team is $75.

Dragons on the Rock is Saturday, September 19th from 9am-6pm at Traxler Park. The dragon boat race features 12-20 paddlers and 1 drummer in each boat, competing in heats throughout the day to determine the top 3 champions. All equipment and training are provided, as well as experienced staff to steer each boat, so no experience is necessary! All teams will participate in at least one hour-long practice session the week leading up to the event. Participants must be 12 or older and 3-4 extra team members are recommended as alternates. The top 3 placing race winners will receive medals and recognition during an award ceremony. Teams are encouraged to be creative with their attire… Especially the drummer! Drummers will have the opportunity to compete for prizes by showing off their costumes and talents during a drum competition.

Boat teams are encouraged to fund raise a minimum of $800 to receive extra perks including:

  • Access to the VIP Pavilion with snacks, refreshments, plush furniture and recognition on pavilion entrance signage
  • Team name on T-shirts
  • Team tent

As well as a partial sponsorship (1 of 2) of a KANDU client or youth boat.

The top 3 fundraising teams will receive special recognition.

Festival admission is free and includes daylong access to spectate the dragon boat races, as well as live music, food vendors, and a beer tent featuring local favorite from Gray Brewing, Rock County Brewing and Timber Hill Winery. Family activities will be available throughout the day, including a kids’ land boat race. Parking is $5 and benefits the Rock Aqua Jays.
