KANDU Awarded $25,000 from United Way Blackhawk Region

KANDU is excited to receive $25,000 from United Way Blackhawk Region to support placing 90 individuals in our Community Employment Program within a year. Upon success, another $25,000 will be awarded next year, as part of the two-year community grant cycle to accomplish the same result.

Present during the check presentation on Tuesday, September 24th (pictured left to right) were Ursula Rinn, KANDU Finance Director; Jim McMullen, KANDU Development Director; Mary Fanning-Penny, United Way Blackhawk Region President and CEO; Brian Anderson, President, KANDU Board of Directors; and Sue Conley, KANDU Interim Executive Director.

KANDU’s Community Employment Program connects with area businesses to match employment opportunities to interested disabled or disadvantaged individuals with barriers to employment. Employees are trained on-site and professionally monitored by KANDU, all while working within their particular skill set and area of interest.
