On April 2nd, clients at both KANDU locations began a 6-week wellness program promoting healthy eating habits, exercise and relationship building. Each week, those who choose to participate receive a booklet allowing them to easily track their healthy choices including fruit and vegetable consumption, water intake, physical activity and acts of kindness. The completed booklets are then collected at the end of the week and put into a prize drawing. Guest speakers from SSM Health, including nurses and physical therapists, have generously provided weekly informational sessions during lunchtime, explaining the benefits of healthy eating and exercise as well as practical strategies to incorporate these ideas into everyday life.
The wellness program will conclude with clients leading off the KANDU 5K Walk, Run & Roll event on May 12th. The race begins in KANDU’s parking lot at 9:00am, but non-competing participants are welcome to enjoy a leisurely stroll for any preferred distance. Registration begins at 8:00am.
