On March 2nd, the A TEAM gathered at the state Capitol for the annual Day for Choice. Over 120 members, including clients and other representatives from KANDU, spent the day promoting independence and work choice for individuals with disabilities. Members shared powerful testimonies to nearly 50 legislators, including Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, Senator Janis Ringhand, and Representatives Debra Kolste and Amy Loudenbeck. KANDU’s own Lindy presented the Lieutenant Governor with a “My Work, My Choice” t-shirt and Jimmy charmed her with a kiss on the hand.
KANDU’s Executive Director, Gary Bersell was in attendance and was pleased with the outcome. “I am happy to say that everyone we spoke to has our best in mind, including work at a center like KANDU. It could not have been a better day.”
The A TEAM joins individuals with disabilities and their family members to advocate in a grassroots effort, creating awareness in the community and advising others to ensure service choices are protected and sustained.
