Vocational Services
Persons with barriers to employment who require on-going additional supervision, training and support.
MISSION:
To improve current work skills and strengths and identify needs and preferences of the individual in a controlled paid work environment.
ADMISSION CRITERIA:
- Have a diagnosed disability or other barrier to employment
- Be referred by an agency having a service contract with KANDU or through a private payment agreement
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be as independent as possible
- Current physical exam
- Recent psychological examination report
- Individual Educational Plan (for school students)
- Criminal justice history
- Reports from previous or current service providers/employers
- Complete a Vocational Evaluation

- Functional living skills training
- Behavior learning strategies
- Work habits training
- Social skills training
- Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy referrals
- Travel training
- Adaptive/assistive technology
- Paid work opportunities
- Transportation arrangements, if necessary (paid by purchaser)
- Occupational health services
- Referral and follow-up services
REPORTING/STAFFING REQUIREMENTS:
- INDIVIDUAL SERVICE PLAN (ISP): An individual plan developed to determine goals based on the persons’ strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
- SEMI-ANNUAL REVIEW: Meeting with client worker and staff to review their goals, share supporting data, discuss progress and make changes as needed.
- ANNUAL REVIEW: Meeting with client worker, staff and full support team to obtain required information updates and review the ISP. All attendees are encouraged to provide input.
