I am a blessed person. I have a wonderful family, a job that is fulfilling, and a community that I love. I try to do my part, as many do, to give back to others and make this world a better place. When I was asked to join the board of directors for KANDU Industries, I jumped at the chance to provide whatever support or talent I possess to help – and, more importantly, to give back. You see, KANDU has been a lifeline for our family. Off and on for the past 10+ years, KANDU has provided my daughter Monica with a little help to keep her employed and fulfilled. She receives job coaching through the Community Employment Program at KANDU and without this program, Monica would struggle to be successful in the job she loves. Her job at the Bodacious Shops in downtown Janesville means that she can be a part of a team with a purpose and realize the same fulfilling feelings that many of us have in our jobs. She loves her coworkers and her job coaches, and together, they give her a sense of belonging. Who wouldn’t want that for their loved ones?
As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, I invite you to help others live their lives to the fullest also by supporting the KANDU Annual Giving Campaign. By supporting this, you join me in saying THANKS and YES! to helping many more families receive services that have been so valuable to our family and so many others. Watch for this to come soon, it’s easy to give, every dollar makes an impact.
As a board member and parent of a KANDU client, I sincerely THANK all the past, present, and future donors for your thoughtfulness. KANDU currently supports over 200 clients, but there are so many more individuals that could be helped with expanded services. I also encourage more businesses to look for ways you can provide job opportunities for people of all abilities. I’m constantly amazed at all the programs and services that KANDU Industries provides and the staff at KANDU deserves a big THANKS for providing services so others can live their lives to the fullest. We are a blessed community.
