|All of us at KANDU would like to welcome Dr. Barb Kelley as Interim Executive Director!|
A retired Special Education Administrator and former President of the KANDU Board of Directors, Barb has been serving nonprofit organizations and individuals with special needs in Rock County since 1992.
Barb has served on the KANDU board for 9 years with this past year as President. She spent 27 years in the field of education with a bachelor’s and master’s in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, an Administration Leadership Certification from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a doctorate in Education Leadership from Edgewood College in Madison, WI. She has taught several special education courses and continues to work as an adjunct instructor for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater supervising students in the teacher education program.
Joel Chappelle, KANDU’s Board President, stated “KANDU is very fortunate that Ms. Kelley has accepted the Interim Director position. For the past nine years, she has been involved in many aspects of KANDU’s operations, so it is natural that she shares her knowledge as our executive leader.”
A message from Barb:
I am happy to announce I will be the Interim Executive Director replacing Ms. Lisa Machtemes who has resigned her position.
I will be working part time during the months of November, December and January while the KANDU Board of Directors completes the Executive Director search process.
I live in Beloit and have retired from the field of education and special education. I have two sons and one daughter and a 14 year old super grandson. I love to golf and exercise. In the past I use to participate in marathons and triathlons. It was lots of fun. I also love to spend time when possible with my best friends and family.
I am excited to be a part of the KANDU family and thank you for supporting our mission. For those of you whom I have not yet had the opportunity to meet while serving on KANDU’s Board, I look forward to meeting and talking with you in the near future.
Dr. Barb Kelley
Interim Executive Director
