It feels cliché to tell you how excited I am to write to you as the Vice President of the Board of Directors, but while change can be uncomfortable, I have grown to embrace it; and over the past year, the only constant at KANDU seems to have been change. From the leadership changes to not knowing what tomorrow would look like at KANDU thanks to COVID-19, the past 12 months have been abnormally uncomfortable. But that is the beauty of change, growth happens when you are outside of your comfort zone.
As Joel Chappelle, President of the Board of Directors, discussed in March, policies have been revised, technology has been upgraded, and facility utilization is being reviewed. This, and so much more, is being done to foster growth at KANDU. While the survival of any organization requires planning and preparation for the future, because of historical reliance on policies like 14(c), KANDU must constantly identify opportunities for growth. Therefore, it is important to identify ways to increase efficiency, without negatively impacting the clients and employees of KANDU.
In the spirit of change and growth, if you see a property owned by KANDU placed on the market, I hope you feel a tingle of excitement at what opportunities that divestment could bring; if you are an employee, and you encounter new software, I hope you breathe a sigh of relief at the thought that it should make your job easier; and if you are a partner in the community, and an event you have been looking forward to for well over a year does not return post-COVID, I hope your curiosity is piqued enough that you anxiously count down the days until you can attend one of our new events. So again, while it may feel cliché to tell you how excited I am to be a part of KANDU, it truly describes how I feel, and I encourage you to embrace the changes ahead.
