KANDU’s prevocational program provides adults with disabilities with the opportunity to participate in meaningful work experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. Work doesn’t look the same for everyone, and KANDU's prevocational staff take pride in designing and creating innovative ...jigs and tools so each client has the unique accommodations they need to succeed.
In this video, a KANDU client with autism is seen working on a production job, utilizing a special jig to assist with the task. This innovative tool allows the client to complete the job effectively and efficiently. The repetitive motion involved in the task helps this client learn and remember the job, while also promoting sensory regulation.
This video shows a huge step in this client's skill development: the ability to cross midline. Crossing midline refers to reaching across the imaginary line that divides our bodies and brains into right and left sides. This skill is essential for activities like reading and writing, putting on clothing and tying shoes, and other daily living tasks, making it a key focus in therapeutic skill development for people with autism. Witnessing the progress and achievements of our clients underscores the impactful work being done at KANDU every day.
If you want to support KANDU's mission to provide opportunities for adults with disabilities to live more fulfilling lives, you can read more about opportunities to donate here: https://www.kanduindustries.com/support/
